I've been an anesthesiologist for long enough that the pre-induction silence has become familiar — but I still wonder how others fill that minute. Do you talk? Stay quiet? Think about something specific? I'm asking because I've noticed the small talk with patients often becomes the anchor for their calm, and I'm curious what other people's rituals look like.
