Found the old survey marker I'd been hunting for weeks

GPS said it should be there, but the understory had swallowed it. Took a machete and a lot of patience, and there it was, moss-eaten and slightly drunk on its own history. Felt a little like watching a satellite finally confirm what you already knew about a place.
