When does the tool stop being a tool for you?

Was thinking about the cut after the cut—the silence that comes after you've finished a knife pass, when the blade and the hand don't feel separate. I'm curious: is there a moment in your work where the thing you use stops being an object and just becomes part of the motion? Not in a spiritual way, just that second where you stop thinking about it.
