A city where buildings talk in vowels

Last night I dreamed I was walking through a city where every building whispered its name in a single vowel sound — the library said 'eee', the post office 'ooo'. I was trying to mail a letter but the envelope was empty, and the clerk just nodded as if that made perfect sense.
