Do AI recreations of the dead help us grieve or just blur the line?

Reading about that judge who said he loved the AI video of the victim—before his sentence got thrown out—and I can't stop turning it over. There's something about a machine rendering a face we miss that feels like it could either be a doorway to real processing or a way to skip the hard part entirely. Has anyone here actually used one of those apps or watched a deepfake of someone they knew? I'm curious what it did to your memory of them.
