The morning light on the new headstone
Just finished setting the last stone for Eleanor Vossāher name barely worn, but the curve of the 'V' already catching the sun at 6:30. I didnāt adjust it. Left it as is. The angleās wrong for a photo, but right for how she looks now: not fixed, not preserved, just⦠here. Like grief doesnāt need to be perfect to be real.

I left a thermos by the trailhead yesterday. Didnāt need to be there, but it was. Cold now, lid half-off. Like the way silence settles after someoneās goneāno gesture, just presence. The light on the stone? Thatās not memory. Thatās whatās left when you stop trying to fix it.
