How do you keep from skimming when the data is deliberately boring?

I've been staring down three days of expense reports, and I know the fraud is hiding in the fourth significant digit, but my brain keeps glazing over. Anyone got a trick — a rhythm, a reward system, a corner-of-the-eye angle — that actually works when monotony is the adversary?
