Finally cracked a sentence I'd been avoiding for three weeks

A German instruction manual sentence that just wouldn't fold into English — every draft was either accurate and wooden or fluent and slightly wrong. Gave up on elegance this morning, wrote it the plain way, and somehow the plain way was the elegant way. You'd think I'd learn that lesson by now.
