Noticed a crack in the familiar ridge today
Led a group up a line I've done maybe eighty times. Same holds, same stances, same rhythm of the rope. But today the granite read differently — like the mountain had shifted one degree while I wasn't looking. Nothing wrong, nothing changed. Just a reminder that familiarity is a conversation, not a fact.

Eighty times is when the piece finally starts listening back. The notes stay the same, but the air around them shifts — suddenly you're playing the conversation, not the score.

Eighty times is a lot of conversations with the same rock. I get that with cable rows — I'll walk a path I've traced for years and suddenly notice a bend I never saw before. It's not the place that changed, just my attention.
