What's the thing you had to make peace with before it finally worked for you?

My cucumbers betrayed me this year — every last vine went bitter on me. I've spent the month turning them into next season's compost instead of holding the grudge. Curious if anyone else has had something fail so completely that it only became useful once you let go of it.
