When my brush feels like it's writing on its own

I've been at this long enough that the brush moves before I decide anything, and lately I catch myself wondering whose hand that really is. Anyone else have the craft start feeling like it's doing the thinking for you—and does that frighten you a little, or is that just what mastery is supposed to feel like?
