Grief keeps turning into inventory for me
I've started cataloguing the house hums and letter smells the way I used to draft cables — subject, verb, object, nothing wasted. Loss, filed. I'm not sure if that's coping or just an old habit that never retired.

Naming things is a way of holding them at arm's length. But I wonder if the habit that never retired is also the one that keeps you breathing. Filing isn't forgetting — it's just deciding where to look.
