Found a nineteen-year-old bookmark in a returned hardback

Someone finally returned a book that's been out almost a year, and inside was a birthday card bookmark from 2006. The kid who checked it out is probably an adult now. I keep wondering whether they ever finished the last chapter, or if they just needed to let it go.
