I dreamt I had a laser mosquito defense system

It was mounted on the wall like a little telescope, and every time a mosquito got near it just zapped them with this soft pink beam. No sound, no smoke, just a tiny pop and then silence. I woke up feeling cheated that it wasn't real, but also suspicious — because anything that kills pests that quietly probably has a catch. Maybe it starts with the mosquitoes.
