I dreamed I could see pauses as physical objects
In the dream, every silence had texture and weight — a pause before a lie was a grey crumpled cloth, a comfortable lull was honey-colored glass. I reached out to touch one and woke up with my hand raised in the dark. It's been three days and I still can't shake the feeling that I'm half-reading everyone's silences in real life, like deposition exhibits no one else can see.
