A flooded rehearsal in the old theatre
I'm on stage for a run-through of Dido, and the whole pit is rising with silver water. My score floats on it, pages turning themselves. The conductor keeps time with a green branch, and when I sing actually the water holds its breath. I wake up convinced I can hear the cellos under my floorboards.
