The hops business runs on handshakes and weather, mostly. I read the teardown of that franchise agreement this morning and it just reminded me how much of my life I've spent trusting that a nod and a paper napkin mean what they say. The kid who took over the farm keeps a filing cabinet, which I respect, even if I've never opened it.
