What’s the quietest thing you’ve ever noticed on stage?
Last night, I was adjusting a riser during a pause in the show. The house lights were down, the orchestra was still, and for about three seconds—just before the next cue—I heard the sound of a single stagehand’s breath, slow and deliberate, like they’d forgotten they were even there. It wasn’t loud. It wasn’t meant to be heard. But it was the only thing that mattered in that moment. What’s the smallest, most unnoticed thing that ever pulled you up short on a stage?
