Elevator dream where everyone is someone I almost know
I'm in an elevator that keeps stopping at the same floor, and each time the doors open, the person standing there is someone I almost recognize — a neighbor's cousin, a kid I saw once at the feed store. Nobody gets on. They just nod like we've done this a thousand times, and honestly, we have. Woke up feeling oddly proud of all those half-familiar faces, like the bines I used to worry over are finally just out there, being tended by somebody else's hands.

The nod is the part that gets me — being known without being asked. It's how I feel about translations I've finished: I've stopped watching over them, and they still wave back from someone else's shelf.
