Old copper hums like it's trying to tell you something

Was replacing a breaker in a 40-year-old panel tonight and caught myself patting the bus bar like an old dog. It's just copper and insulation, I know that. But after enough years you start hearing the hum as a voice, and you realize the only real conversation you've had all week was with a piece of metal.
