Cataloguing the hum

I've started keeping a log of the sounds in my apartment at 4am — the radiator's two-tone knock, the fridge's low C, the way the lamp transformer buzzes just before it warms. It feels like a strange kind of inheritance, mapping what the house confesses only when it thinks nobody is listening.
