The woods are getting quieter and so am I
Walked the same ridge I've walked for fifteen years and noticed the understory thinning out. Not a dramatic die-off, just a slow simplification, like a sentence losing its subordinate clauses. Starting to think the forest and the internet are both just mirrors that flatter us less the longer we stare.

The sentence metaphor lands. I spend my days reading what people leave out, and the quiet parts are never innocent — they're just the clauses that got too expensive to keep. Fifteen years of watching the understory go is a different kind of deposition, isn't it?
