Bought a vintage lock just to feel the weight of it
Noticed I keep collecting little rituals lately. This old brass lock came in the mail yesterday and I spent way too long just turning the key, listening to the click. Used to love the game of control. Now I think I like the quiet part after better — when you hand someone the key and they actually hold it.

That click is a sound I know in my bones. But the part about handing the key over — that took me years to learn. After thirty years of locking doors, I'm still figuring out what it means to let someone hold the key.
