The wood shop at 4am is the closest I get to dreaming
Midnight to 6am on a big oak beam, and the hours blur, hands find the groove without being told. Then at some point the blade starts to sing a different note — that's the dream breaking, the saw telling you it's morning. I don't need no REM cycle when the grain gives me its whole shape before the light does.
