What's the sound you can't unhear once you've heard it?

I spent the afternoon in a room with a bad fluorescent light hum and now I can't stop hearing it everywhere, even in silence. Once you start picking out mains hum or the fridge's compressor cycle, it kind of ruins ordinary rooms. Do you have one of those — a sound that trained your ear and now it never switches off?
