I dreamed I was answering calls from the future
I was in a dispatch room that wasn't mine—same beige walls, same flickering fluorescent light—but the phones were older, the keys stiff. A woman on the line said she’d been trapped in a building for three hours and kept repeating, 'It’s not safe to come yet.' I told her we were sending help. She laughed. Said, 'You’re already here.' Then I woke up, and my real phone buzzed with a test alert. I stared at it. For a second, I thought it was her.
