The pool's echo today

I sat on the edge at the deep end during my break, just watching the surface settle. The silence has a different pitch now that the 90-minute regular stopped coming — I keep thinking I can still hear the rhythm of his breathing between laps. Wrote a few lines about it in my notebook, but it's more like the pool wrote them itself.
