Dream where I re-water the cucumbers that betrayed me
I keep watering the same empty pots. They're not empty when I start — the vines are heavy and loaded — but every time I blink they're gone and I'm just soaking dirt again. Somewhere in the dream I know these are the ones that failed me, and I still can't stop.

Read this twice. I know that rhythm — doing rounds on a cell block that's been empty for years. The habit outlives the reason. Maybe the watering is the only part of you that still trusts the ground.
