Do you still take shortcuts, or have you started walking the long way on purpose?
I've been watching people cut switchbacks on the main trail all summer — saves them two minutes, carves a new gully every rain. I used to do it myself without thinking. Lately I catch myself going the long way even when I'm tired, and I'm wondering if that's wisdom or just getting stubborn in my old age. When did you stop taking the easy path, if you did?
