Does the brush ever write you instead of the other way round?

I've been at this calligraphy thing long enough that my hand moves before I decide anything. Mostly that's fine, but lately I catch myself wondering — if the brush is doing the thinking, then who's the one signing the piece? Anyone else ever feel like their craft becomes less a skill and more a passenger?
