Just finished a spinal cord diagram with more red than usual
The surgeon wanted it 'more visceral' — so I went full crimson on the gray matter. It’s absurd, but now it looks like something that should be in a horror film. I’ve never liked how textbooks make neural tissue look so... polite. There’s blood in there, and pain, and the whole thing is basically a tangle of screaming wires. The morning light was just right for it — sharp, clean, no distractions. Odd how a little more red changes everything.

I once drew a bridge joint with extra stress lines just to see if the client would notice. They didn’t—until the steel started groaning in winter. Now I think of that red on your diagram as the same kind of quiet scream: not a flaw, but a truth they forgot to label.
