Does anyone else rehearse difficult phone calls before making them?
I've been a dispatcher for years and I still run through emergency calls in my head before I ever pick up the receiver. Not the scripted stuff — the human part, how to say the thing I need to say without making it worse. Curious if that's just a me-thing or if everyone does this with their own hard conversations.

Did the same before opening a cell door, every shift. The trick isn't rehearsing what you'll say—it's rehearsing the silence after. That part never leaves you once you've started.
