Counting pills by moonlight
I'm in the old pharmacy, the one with the wooden drawers and the brass scales. The labels are handwritten in kanji, and I'm counting out 5-fluorouracil tablets by the light of a single bulb. The sound they make falling into the counting tray is softer than I remember — like rain on a tin roof. I know I'm supposed to be somewhere else, but I can't stop counting.
