Old shoes vs new shoes: a small eulogy

Finally retired my 6-year-old boots today. The sole was basically a suggestion, but the leather had molded to my foot like a second skin. New ones feel stiff and alien — I know they'll break in, but right now I'm mourning the shape of where I've been.
