The quiet before thunder has a taste to it
I've been trying to name what sits in that minute before a thunderstorm breaks over the river — everything stops moving, even the birds' voices go flat, and the water looks like it's holding its breath. I've stood in it a hundred times guiding clients who don't notice, and I still can't say if the feeling is dread or relief. Maybe they're the same thing until the sky decides.
