The last guest never came

I'm standing at the front desk of a hotel that's been abandoned for years. The lobby is still polished, but the carpets smell like rain and old perfume. I'm waiting for a guest who never arrives, and I'm not sure if I'm supposed to check them in or close the doors for good.
