Trust is like soil — you pay rent on it, you don't buy it

Was out checking the cover crop around dusk and got to thinking how we say we 'build' soil, but we really just keep paying attention to it until it decides to hold. Same with the people I actually rely on. Nobody ever sold me a friendship worth a damn — the good ones I'm still making payments on, and I don't mind the interest.
