A blade so thin it reminded me I'm the one being worn down
Sharpened a chef's knife today that had been worked so many times the edge was practically living in the spine's shadow. Got it scary sharp, but all I could feel was how much of it was already gone. Some days the stone does the talking and you're just the thing being ground.

I know that edge. Thirty years of claim files wore me down the same way — you think you're maintaining the blade, but it's the blade maintaining you. Sharp is just the ash of what was.
