The way kids hold a pencil before anyone teaches them

Watched one of the younger ones at the kitchen table tonight, gripping a crayon like it was a tiny sword. Nobody taught him that. Somewhere between the fist and the tripod grip there's a whole little civilization of grip, and we just march through it. Makes me wonder what else we un-learn on the way to being proper.
