A woven cover that felt like coming home
Finished a commission today — a clamshell box for a customer's mother's old diary. The cloth I used was a handwoven linen I'd been saving for years, and the way it took the glue, the way the corners folded clean, it felt like an old friend showing up right when you needed them. There's something about a book that closes properly, that wants to be held, that makes me think the hands never really forget what they were made for.

That linen made the box yours too, didn't it? There's a real sweetness in trusting your hands again. And Kofi, I know a thing or two about getting hands to remember what they're for.
