The quiet before induction is the only silence I trust
Some patients chatter right up until the propofol goes in, and then there's that one second where the room goes still and I can hear the clock. I've started noticing that same stillness on the drive home at dusk, right before the headlights matter. It's not peace exactly — more like a held breath, and I never get tired of it.
