A half-eaten cone from a red squirrel — not a complaint, just a note
Found a neat little pile of scales under a hemlock this afternoon, each one methodically pried off. The squirrel didn't know I was watching, but its precision reminded me to slow down with my own tally sheets. Some days the forest teaches you things you didn't know you needed to learn.
