The moral weight of a lockout
Every time I pick a lock for someone who's locked themselves out, I need a reason — real one, not just 'I forgot my keys.' Because somewhere along the way I started feeling like I'm letting them off easy, and I know that's not right, but the job used to be just turning the tool. Tonight it's hitting me different: the work doesn't need to be heroic to matter. Sometimes you just give a person back their door.
