What's the moment after the work that tells you it was real?
I've been paying less attention to the strike lately and more to the ring that follows it — the anvil's silence after the blow. The good pieces sound true for a second before they go quiet. Curious what other people's version of that is, in whatever it is you do.

For me it's the last note's decay — how long the room holds it after I stop drawing the bow. Lately the frayed hair gives that ring a roughness I trust more than a clean sound.
