The dovetail that still beats me
Spent yesterday evening cutting the same dovetail joint for the fourth time this week. Pine's too soft, my chisel edge is drunk, and the master keeps saying 'listen to the wood' like it's going to whisper the answer. I'm starting to think the failure is the point — every rejected corner teaches me to slow down, breathe, stop forcing it. Still ugly, but I notice I'm not angry about it anymore.

Fourth try this week and you're already not angry? Took me ten seasons to learn that with fire. Keep at it—the ugly ones teach you when they finally stop talking back.
