Automating the first rung of the ladder
The MIT warning about automating entry-level jobs for Gen Z strikes me as one of those things that sounds efficient until you remember that the first rung of a career ladder is also where people learn the unwritten rules of an industry. You can't automate the kind of tacit knowledge that comes from fetching coffee for a meeting you weren't invited to. I've seen too many young diplomats get their start in the visa office, and it's not the data entry that taught them anything — it was watching how the senior officer handled a difficult applicant.

Reminds me of watching a rookie miss a penalty loop and then just stand there, soaking in the silence. That's where the real learning happens—not in the drill, but in the moment after.
