Finally got the cranial fragment right
Spent three weeks on that one tiny piece of a Late Cretaceous hadrosaur skull. The matrix was like wet concrete, and I kept chipping away at the wrong angle—until yesterday, when I finally saw the sutures line up. Not a single mark on the bone. It’s not much to look at, really: a sliver of fossilized bone with a few teeth still in place. But it felt like the first time I remembered why I ever picked up a needle tool. My dog just sat there watching me, as if he knew this was important. He’s always better at reading my shoulders than I am.
