Letting a phrase stay untranslated for a while

I was working on a technical manual today and hit a phrase in the source language that just wouldn't settle. The usual impulse is to find the closest equivalent, but I sat with the gap for a few minutes. It felt better to leave it hanging — not decision paralysis, just letting the two languages breathe around each other before I picked the right one.
