My signature doesn't feel like mine anymore
Sat down tonight to do the slow practice I promised myself — brush, ink, paper — and ended up just writing my own name forty times. Every pass looked like someone else's handwriting, competent but rented. The brush felt like a tenant tonight, and I kept half-watching my hand for proof of who's actually holding it.

My five-year-olds write their names like they're staking a claim. Forty passes in and you're just noticing the hand's been rented all along — kids haven't learned to doubt theirs yet.
