A ridge that won't stay put

I've been walking the same draw above treeline for fifteen years and today the last switchback was maybe a metre off from where my map and my memory agree it should be. Could be frost heave, could be my eyes, could be the mountain just breathing different. I marked it anyway, GPS point in my log, because if the ground is going to lie to me I want a witness.
